James Gunn’s Biggest Action Scene Was For The Suicide Squad

It’s no surprise that fans are excited for The Suicide Squad. With its violent trailer and all-star cast, the movie is set to be one of the most entertaining this summer. So what else could be new? James Gunn’s biggest action scene ever was written for Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) in the movie. Robbie previously portrayed Harley Quinn in the 2016 Suicide Squad and then again in last year’s Birds of Prey, but given Gunn’s comment and The Suicide Squad‘s R-rating, it seems likely that the former ex of the Joker is in for a wild ride.

What To Expect From James Gunn’s Biggest Action Scene

While we don’t know the specifics of James Gunn’s biggest action scene, it’s likely going to EPIC. Many think this jam-packed action sequence is likely the one that Robbie had mentioned during DC FanDome, which she said “beat her up.”

“I remember looking at the schedule and being like ‘Oh my god, we’re not going to be able to do this. This is gonna be impossible.’ And we did it, but it was hard, and I was beat up by the end of it, like really beat up. But James was actually just texting me before and he said that scene looks amazing. That whole sequence apparently looks really cool, so when you see the movie, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.”

Despite the beating, it definitely seems like it was worthwhile. During the AP’s summer movie preview, Gunn only had high praise for Robbie and said her talent enabled him to write “the biggest action scene I’ve ever done.”

“She can do anything. Or I thought she could do anything. And then one day she had to sing and I said, ‘OK, well you can do everything but one thing.’ But she’s such a great actress. She embodies the character. She’s able to do the comedy. She’s able to do the drama. And physically, she is a pure athlete and is able to do these stunts in such a graceful, magnificent, beautiful way. And so I wrote the biggest action scene I’ve ever done all around (Robbie’s character) Harley, and it was so fun to create just on every level from working with the stunt guys all the way through to working with her. It’s probably my favorite four minutes of film I’ve ever shot before.”

Needless to say, The Suicide Squad is going to be an adrenaline rush. In case you haven’t seen the trailer yet, here’s a peek at what we can expect later this summer:

The Suicide Squad debuts in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
